Dr. Maria Elena Buszek is a curator, critic, and art historian who teaches Modern and contemporary art history at the Kansas City Art Institute in the United States. Her writing on art and popular culture has appeared in -Art in America-, -TDR: The Journal of Performance Studies-, and -Woman’s Art Journal- as well as the popular feminist ‘zine -Bust: The Voice of the New Girl Order-, to which she is a regular contributor. Her dissertation, "Pin-up Grrrls: Feminism, Sexuality, and the Pin-up Genre, 1860 to the present" reflects her research interests in the role of sexuality in the history of feminist art.
