Day 17: Sunday 15th December Abu Dhabi to LHR. The onward flight GF009 to London - 02:40 - started... with a meal... which was refused by many!! Then... sleep. Quite a few of our group, apparently, didn't do too bad on the sleep front. We're probably so knackered!! LHR is wet, raining, and foggy. It took an age to reach the runway, spiralling down and down in a waiting stack. On arrival we have to bid farewell to Carolyn - her flight continues through to Leeds if the check-in at Kathmandu has worked. Everyone else goes through the immigration system (nothing more than a flash of the passport) and baggage collection, where most of the goodbyes are said. I stick with Alison, to pick up a few bits I left at her place. But of course we meet up again outside as we disperse: Lynn and Graham waiting for a bus pick-up to the car park, and getting some cash, I meet Sally's sister - recognisably so!!! |
