It turned out that the breather isn't the little plug on the diagram above. It's actually a machined brass component that screws into the right hand axle casing. I should listen more carefully in future!. Click on the picture right for a bigger view. It has a simple non return valve inside consisting of a ball bearing that is free to move up and down, with a small hole on the outside to the atmosphere. It wasn't blocked but I cleaned it out anyway. I also cleaned the brake backplate. Before I pull it apart I'll check to see if I'm still leaking after a run. |
