The UK-China Leonid Meteor Shower Observation Project
BING-BING'S PROJECTS
Draw up a grid with the same number of squares as there are days in the month. Put the date in each square. Look up in the sky at night, and if you can see the Moon, draw its shape in the square with your date in it. Do this every night. If it is cloudy, put a cloud in the square. At the end of the month, see if you can see a sequence.
2. Why does the Moon change shape?

Find a large ball. Put a lamp on a table, and sit on a chair with the lamp behind you. have a friend hold the ball, and walk slowly around you. See how much of the ball is lit up as your friend walks around you. When your friend is in front of you, you should see a full disk. When s/he is at either side, you shouldonly see half of the ball. When your friend is behind you, and the ball is between you and the lamp, you should see only the shadowed side. This is an explanation of why the Moon seems to change shape
