PICTURE PAGE 2

One Meteor

This time exposure was taken at 00:26 Local Time ( 16:26 UT) on 18th November, 1998 at the Mi Yun Observatory 90 km north of Beijing. The exposure was approximately 6 minutes. North is towards the upper right. The camera was facing into Perseus.

Two meteors

A black and white image of two meteors taken on very short time exposure (about 20 secs) using ASA 100 film. The brighter meteor was seen, but the other was not. The frame also shows a number of additional very faint meteors. This time exposure was taken at 12:10 Local Time ( 17:10 UT) on 18th November, 1998 at the Mi Yun Observatory 90 km north of Beijing. The lens was fitted with a 600 lines per mm diffraction grating, but no spectral results were apparent. This image is taken direct from a scan of the negative. Perhaps a proper print will reveal more detail. This will be done shortly.
